December Student Art Show: Masha Harmon

November 27th, 2011

Just in time for holiday shopping, Masha Harmon from Yorktown High School will be our featured artist for the month of December.

Masha is a senior and in her third year studying photography. Her portfolio features close-up pictures of flowers, inspired by the paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe.  This is Masha, dressed as Georgia O’Keeffe did in a photograph by her husband Alfred Stieglitz, along with one of Masha’s flower pictures.

Masha won the PTA Reflections contest in the photography category at Yorktown during her first year of photography, and exhibited in the congressional art show at the Arlington Arts Center last year and in a juried show at Photoworks at Glen Echo Park earlier this year. She studied photography last summer at Photoworks.

Masha plans to study next year at Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia, where she intends to study environmental science, sports management and photography.

Her show will be on view at It’s All Good starting Wednesday, November 30. An opening night celebration is planned for Saturday, December 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the show will run through December.

Student Art Showing in the Shop

March 5th, 2011

Come see Yorktown High School senior Nicole Dobson’s photography portfolio at It’s All Good!

Photographing since her sophomore year at Yorktown High School, Nicole Dobson’s photos depict her love for her childhood home of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

“Growing up, I felt like Santa Fe was the most enchanting place in the world,” said Dobson. “For my AP Studio Art portfolio, I decided to showcase a set of pictures that show people what I feel when I remember my hometown. I had a lot of fun making my collection: I took pictures of my friends dressed up as Indians, of the faralitos that line the streets of Santa Fe on Christmas Eve, of Native-American Indians on The Plaza, and much more.”

Her interest in photography began at a summer photography camp in Colorado where she became fascinated with the beautiful Rocky Mountain landscape. Since then, she has taken photography classes in school and participated in the Fine Art Photography summer camp at the Corcoran College of Art and Design.

“My goal,” she concluded, “is to share my pictures with everyone so that I can make other people them happy too.”

Those interested in viewing her portfolio can see it at It’s All Good until April 2nd. It’s All Good is located at 5912 Washington Boulevard in Arlington and is open Tuesday through Friday from 12pm to 6pm and Saturday from 10am to 6pm.
