December Student Art Show: Masha Harmon

November 27th, 2011

Just in time for holiday shopping, Masha Harmon from Yorktown High School will be our featured artist for the month of December.

Masha is a senior and in her third year studying photography. Her portfolio features close-up pictures of flowers, inspired by the paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe.  This is Masha, dressed as Georgia O’Keeffe did in a photograph by her husband Alfred Stieglitz, along with one of Masha’s flower pictures.

Masha won the PTA Reflections contest in the photography category at Yorktown during her first year of photography, and exhibited in the congressional art show at the Arlington Arts Center last year and in a juried show at Photoworks at Glen Echo Park earlier this year. She studied photography last summer at Photoworks.

Masha plans to study next year at Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia, where she intends to study environmental science, sports management and photography.

Her show will be on view at It’s All Good starting Wednesday, November 30. An opening night celebration is planned for Saturday, December 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the show will run through December.
